Ups and Downs

mood: content
music: Piano Concerto No. 5 in E-flat major, Op. 73 ("Emperor") - Beethoven

------------------------------------------
It's been a difficult couple of weeks, with both my arthritis and my sciatica acting up, the web server going down unexpectedly and having to scramble to set up new hosting for almost everything, and a rejection in the mail on Monday that included inane comments.

However, things have returned to the state that I jokingly refer to as "normal". The sites are back up with only minor financial investments, the body parts are working relatively pain-free again, and I've gotten over my little rage about the rejection. Mind you, I don't get riled about rejections per se--they pretty much roll off my back now. Except the ones that include stupid/irrelevant/useless comments.

Two more critiques to write and then I'll turn to the novel rewrite. Unless I have to write this new short story that's pestering me, first. We'll see how things go over the next week or so.

We had the piano moved in yesterday and although it will be a few weeks before we have it tuned, I sat down to test-drive it a little today. It was great fun and I'm hoping some of my mostly-forgotten musical skills will burrow up to the top of my brain again.

One thing I learned today: It's quite amazing how songs one played on the piano thirty years ago can come back to the fingers so quickly.
