Summertime blogging? Not here!

There wasn't much time for anything this summer, let alone blogging, but I'm gearing up for a hopefully productive Fall and maybe I'll get blogging again, too. School starts in a week's time, and I'll be alone in the days for the first time in a while. I'm vowing to translate that into a more productive writing life, and with luck I'll chronicle that here.
The family reunion planning seemed to take up most of June and July, and by the time it was over and everyone had headed back home, August was well underway. We took a week's vacation to PEI and NB and since we came back I've been trying to make the remainder of the kids' summer fun (while sneaking in a little school shopping without saying the s-word). On the writing front I managed to run a workshop session, finish my anthology story, and do some novel rewrite planning, as well as start a new story that I'd like to have ready to submit to a contest in October. Sounds like I did a lot but actually it was pretty spotty. But I read! I read eleven books this summer, more than I have in a long time...and it was wonderful!
The main thing now is to get the rewrite started and pick up on some other projects that have fallen by the wayside--the rewrite is such a daunting process that it's very hard to get started. I think I'm scared of wrecking what I have by trying to add and improve it, but I have to keep telling myself that it will never get done any other way. I'd really like to get it sent off somewhere before the end of the year, and I don't want to miss NaNoWriMo in November, so I have to get busy.
One thing I learned today: One of the eight ravens at the Tower of London, Thor, can say "Good morning." Which is cool, because one of the crows in my backyard can say "Hello."
