Milestone

Tonight I opened up my novel rewrite file on the computer for the first time in five months--to the day exactly, I see now. One month of that time, of course, I was writing my NaNoWriMo project, but for the rest of it--well, my mind just hasn't been in writing mode. I've been trying to get back there, but it's proven a very slippery thing to grasp.

But now I really want to get this project finished. First thing will have to be to print it out and read it as it stands now. That's the only way to get it all back in my head and figure out where I left off. A big undertaking. But it feels good to have made a first tiny step in that direction.

Heh. It's obviously been a loooong time. My husband just walked past the door of my office and heard the keyboard clicking and said, "You're writing?" in a surprised voice. Ouch. But at least I could say I'd opened the file. :)

Hi Sherry,

Just checked on The Writer's Block and thought I'd drop by here to see what you're up to. Coincidentally (though it took me days longer than you) just today I opened up my nano novel and started re-reading. Just a tiny baby step, but THE essential one I had to take in order to take more, right? The good news is that I liked it! Reading it didn't make be cringe or feel overwhelmed. I think it's worth working on. I'm going to try and get a chapter written before next Wednesday. I hope you've managed to keep that keyboard clicking! Cheers, nanc
